With a recent update the iOS app Garmin Connect opened up for calorie counting thru MyFitnessPal. Since I have been using MFP like forever, or as long as I have used Runkeeper I thought this to be brilliant. However – I never got it to work.
Fed up with not finding the setting to make it happen I put it out on Twitter. Recieving from Connect “Connect will give info to MFP, not the other way around”. But why oh why does Connect have a box for the “intake”? And it tells you to logg your food in MFP…
I emailed the MFP support:
Hi there,
This is Joben from our Premium Support center and it would be my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We are so sorry for any inconvenience. We took a quick peak at your account and found Garmin is not yet linked. Do you mind linking it once more?
The connection must first be initiated within the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Website, not with MyFitnessPal. (Please make sure you have the most up to date versions of both apps). In the Garmin app, you will start by opening the Menu screen, by clicking on the three line icon in the upper left. If using the iOS app, then go to More>Settings>3rd Party Apps>MyFitnessPal.
If using Android, select Fitness, followed by Calories swipe through those pages to link Calories In/Out. You will then swipe right to left through the additional screens and select Get Started on the last screen.
On their site, connect.garmin.com, you will also start in the Menu, clicking the three line icon in the upper left. Next select Calories In/Out where you should see the option to connect.
Once you have connected on the Garmin side, we recommend going to our main website at http://www.MyFitnessPal.com, then to the Apps tab, and double check on the right hand side of the page under “Your Apps” to make sure Garmin is now listed there.
If you are using our updated Android or iOS apps that have the Steps feature, you can elect Garmin to be your main Step source. Simply go to the menu in the app, then Steps, then add Garmin as your elected option (please note you can only have one elected Steps option).
Once the connection has been established Food should only be logged on MyFitnessPal, not on the Garmin site. It will then transfer to Garmin as a meal total (not individual foods logged, as different databases are used and the exact items may not be on both databases).
Exercise should be logged with Garmin, and will then transfer to MyFitnessPal in the form of an adjustment. To see a break down of the adjustment, you can tap directly on the adjustment in the apps or click the “i” next to the adjustment online in the Cardiovascular section. Please see this article for an explanation on how the calculation works: https://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/1084232-what-is-the-calorie-adjustment-in-my-exercise-diary
You can connect other integration partners to MyFitnessPal while using Garmin, as long as you do not connect the same partners to Garmin as well, and the partners you connect are not all day trackers like Garmin, as you can only connect one all day tracker at a time.
We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions or feedback for us. We wish you success in reaching and maintaining all of your health and fitness goals.
All the best,Joben

I tried everything above. No luck.
I emailed the service center of Garmin:
Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
I am happy to help.
Unfortunately that will not be possible. Information can only be synchronised to MyFitnessPal and not the other way around.
I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
If there is anything else I can help you with then please let me know. Alternatively you can search for a solution here: http://www.garmin.co.uk/support
Kind regards,
Kacper
I replied: “How do I track nutrition in Connect? It says I should do it thru MFP… Now I am confused!”
And I got this:
I am sorry for the inconvenience but can you please advise where was this information displayed?
A few minutes later I recieved this:
This means that the nutrition information will be displayed in MyFitnessPal, it does not state that it will be transferred to Garmin Connect.
But why oh why is there a box with a green apple ready to make use the nutrition??
