I find it so rude when a fellow runner doesn’t say “hi!” when meeting. I mean, you don’t have to actually say “hi” but a nod a small wave or wink. Nothing big, nothing that brings you out of focus… And having said that, I run early in the morning mostly. Even when running in abig city, like today, I only met four other runners and none of them responded to my nods and waves…
What do you think??
It seems to only be in the cities I’ve noticed I guess as cities tend to be unfriendly anyway, when I’m on the trail ‘nearly’ all runners I come across say hello. I do notice on the trails that dog walkers and general walkers don’t say hello when I’ve been civil to them, so I can only take so much of being blanked, so I don’t bother now. Shame really.

Where I live, where I run the most, the dog walkers says hi too. But that may be a part of living in the country side, as you say. I get it if you meet people every second, you wouldn’t do anything but daying hello all the time, but when it’s so few..? Like early in the morning or late at night?

I know what you mean! It makes me feel uncomfortable if I ever pass someone without acknowledging them. Elevators as well. When it’s just the two of you standing there, I can’t help but say something. Most people are super friendly and seem to appreciate it, but then there’s the occasional person who just glances and looks away…makes me feel weird 😛
